The Visual Snow Initiative (VSI) and the AnCan Foundation invite you to a special virtual Special Guest Session featuring Dr. Sui Wong, an award-winning Neurologist, Neuro-Ophthalmologist, and Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS) researcher. Dr. Wong will share her expertise on VSS, engage with attendees, and answer questions. As a key member of VSI’s Global Research Team, Dr. Wong specializes in using Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) to target the brain’s salience networks, potentially helping to manage VSS symptoms. This session offers a unique opportunity to connect directly with Dr. Wong and learn more about her groundbreaking work.

About Dr. Sui Wong
Dr. Sui Wong is a Neurologist, Neuro-Ophthalmologist, and consultant for St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Moorfields Private Eye Hospital. She is also the Vice President of the UK Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Wong has made significant strides in VSS research, most notably by conducting the first-ever study using Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as a treatment for Visual Snow Syndrome.
In October 2023, Dr. Wong presented her findings at the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) Conference, and the study was published in the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology. The promising results, which gained support from the neuroscience community, highlight the potential for MBCT to benefit VSS patients and warrant further investigation.
To continue this important work, VSI has funded a second, larger Randomized Control Trial (RCT) to explore how MBCT can improve the brain’s ability to filter unwanted images and alleviate VSS symptoms. The MBCT program used in this research is based on the Oxford Mindfulness curriculum, and VSI has partnered with Oxford Mindfulness to make mindfulness-based treatments more accessible to individuals with VSS globally. For more information on MBCT for VSS, please visit our Treating Visual Snow: MBCT page.
