KidzCon 2024 in Los Angeles was a Halloween-themed event filled with music, dancing, food trucks, and costumes. Families arrived dressed in their favorite outfits, enjoying a weekend packed with fun, entertainment, and learning.
This year, the Visual Snow Initiative (VSI) proudly sponsored KidzCon to raise awareness on Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS). It was an exciting opportunity to share the story of VSS with a wider audience and bring attention to its impact on children.
The event featured live performances, interactive exhibits, and moments where kids supported each other, including conversations about VSS. The event also welcomed many celebrity guests, including well-known children and youth models, actors, and singers, who helped raise awareness about VSS and its effects on children and youth.
Introducing VSI 4 Kids
A highlight of KidzCon was the launch of VSI 4 Kids, a new program designed to make VSS more understandable for kids and families in a supportive, engaging, and interactive way.
A key aspect of our mission is to emphasize that kids can have VSS too, and we’re here to help families understand the condition. At the event, some children instantly recognized the static and visual disturbances they’ve been seeing as symptoms of VSS. Parents, relieved to finally have a name for what their children were experiencing, also learned about the available treatments, support options, and a community ready to help. Through VSI 4 Kids, families found answers they had been desperately seeking.
