Meet our #Warrioroftheweek, Poppy Edwards 💙
Spotlight on: Poppy Edwards
For as long as I can remember, I experienced these sorts of particles in my vision. I could only describe them as like you were adding a noise or static effect to a photo. I thought it was normal that everyone else saw the world like that. I talked to my Mom about it often, and she had the same thing, but when describing it to friends, they just seemed confused. Only within the last few years did I find the name for it- Visual Snow Syndrome. I had no idea that it existed or even that it was actually a neurological condition.
Visual Snow can be incredibly frustrating. Though it seems like a very minor thing to experience, the fact that we cannot turn it off or relieve ourselves of it can drive you crazy. Some things accompany it, like migraines, tinnitus, and light sensitivity.
I like to believe that maybe these specks are something real that only people with VSS can see. That we can see the particles holding this world together or the specs of dark matter floating about.
I decided to create a piece of art to show how I personally see the world.
